What is A Brow Lamination?

Eyebrow Lamination also known as Brow Lift

is an increasingly popular trend for eyebrows and a great alternative for those who don’t wish to get microblading. The concept is similar to a perm, except instead of curling the hairs it is chemically straightening the hairs to make the eyebrows appear much fuller.

The purpose of a brow lamination or brow lift is to straighten out the hairs, which makes the eyebrows fuller, so even if you don’t think you have enough hair to get one you may be pleasantly surprised. If you have a full eyebrow meaning hair all across, whether it’s thick or not, this treatment will work on you.

The process is 3 steps:

  1. Lifting Cream, this chemical breaks down the bond of the hairs, so you can shape them easily.

  2. Neutralizing Cream, this reforms the hair bonds into the new shape.

  3. Hydrating Oil, this is to cancel out any dryness.

I personally prefer to have my eyebrows freshly shaped before this treatment, because I think it looks best and will allow you to enjoy the brow lift longer.

The treatment can last 6-8 weeks, and the cool thing is, the more often you get the brow lamination the longer they will stay each time.

I prefer this to microblading because although I have full brows, I can never get them to their fullest potential, but by laying them flat via the brow lamination they appear much fuller and fluffier, which I’m absolutely obsessed with.

Honestly, I will continue to get this service because it makes my brows fuller without having to apply any product and when I do use product it is just to get my preferred color, and I barely need any! No gel needed for these bad girls!

One thing to keep in mind though, this look isn’t for someone who doesn’t wear much makeup. Me and my brow girl agreed that this look is best paired with makeup, not full glam, but some sort of put together look! I hope that makes sense and is helpful.

Keep in mind, this treatment does dry the brows out, this why I personally suggest seeing a professional and/or taking care of them daily afterwards with a hydrating oil. My girl gave me castor oil to put on them nightly and also a leave in conditioner to use 2x a week. Talk about good service!

You can have a professional do them or do them at home yourself, but I personally would rather have a professional do it because they understand eyebrow shapes, and they can tell if the brows are damaged at the root, plus mine can shape them for me prior to. It’s a full service appointment, which I like. I no longer touch my eyebrows after I started getting them professionally threaded/shaped.

My girl Erica is located in the Bay Area and owner of Brow Hood Studio. She is truly amazing at what she does and I love how much love and care she puts into every client. I know I can always trust her to know what’s best for my brows in every way! Unfortunately, she isn’t taking new clients at the moment, but if you’re a local I would follow her on instagram to check every once in awhile to get on the list. Her instagram is linked here.

The price will vary depending where you go, but I truly love the effect of the brow lamination so much so that it is something i’m willing to splurge on because it saves me time when doing my makeup and saves me from product build up. I know some people love soap brows, but just keep in the mind the build up it could cause.

Have you gotten a brow lamination or do you plan on getting one after this? Let me know in the comments, i’d love to know!
